Fubara Commits to Collaboration with APC Lawmakers

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of River State has committed to working collaboratively with newly elected lawmakers from the All Progressives Congress (APC) following the state legislative elections held on February 21. Notably, APC candidate Ukalikp Napoleon won the Ahoada East State Constituency II seat, while Henrietta Loolo Bulabari secured victory in the Khana State Constituency II seat.

Fubara described the election results as a reflection of the trust and confidence placed in the APC candidates by the constituents. He expressed readiness to collaborate with his new legislative colleagues to advance the state's development agenda.

This conciliatory tone comes in the wake of recent political developments, including the suspension of impeachment proceedings against Fubara by the River State House of Assembly on February 19, which had been initiated amid political tensions between Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike. The situation had reportedly led to a six-month period of emergency rule in the state, but calm is gradually returning.
