Benin Coup Attempt Foiled, Normalcy Returns to Cotonou

Following a failed coup attempt in Benin, normalcy has returned to Cotonou, as confirmed by the U.S. Embassy.

Mutinous soldiers identified themselves as a military committee and briefly took control before loyalist forces regained control. President Patric Talon's government was targeted, with the soldiers attempting to overthrow it.

At least 14 mutinous soldiers have been reported arrested, while others have fled. The Interior Minister, Alassan Seidou, addressed the nation confirming the foiled coup and the restoration of control by loyal troops.
