Regina Akume Seeks Second Term in Gboko/Tarka Constituency

Regina Akume, aged 71 and a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has officially picked up her nomination form to contest for a second term representing the Gboko/Tarka Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections. This decision follows extensive consultations with party leaders and stakeholders in the constituency, emphasizing her commitment to seek re-election based on her performance in the 10th National Assembly.

Regina Akume previously won her seat in the House of Representatives during the 2023 elections, defeating John Dyegh of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). She collected her nomination form on a Friday at the APC headquarters in Makurdi, accompanied by supporters and party leaders.

In a related political development, Eunic Ortom, the immediate past First Lady of Benue State, has also declared her interest in contesting for the Benue Northwest senatorial seat, having picked up her nomination form on the same day as Akume.
