ADC Primary Election Disrupted in Benue State

Samson Okwu, the chairman of the Benue State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), declared that no valid primary election was conducted for the Apa/Agatu federal constituency. This announcement followed allegations of violence that disrupted the electoral process and claims that thugs hijacked electoral materials.

Okwu made this declaration during a press briefing on Friday, addressing concerns raised by David Olofu, a senatorial aspirant for the Benue South senatorial district, who condemned the alleged hijacking of electoral materials during the primary election. Olofu's campaign council issued a statement detailing claims that armed men intercepted vehicles carrying electoral materials and forced the party chairman to flee.

The ADC leadership has been urged to ensure a fair and credible rescheduling of the primary election, with Okwu calling for calm among aspirants and assuring that grievances would be addressed properly. The situation has led to growing controversy surrounding the conduct of the party's primaries.
