Benue Assembly Condemns Killing of Katsina-Ala Ruler

The Benue State House of Assembly condemned the recent killing of a traditional ruler from Katsina-Ala Local Government Area, following a motion moved by Mr. Bemdoo Ipusu of the APC.

The traditional ruler, identified as Chief Sugther Agamb, was abducted by unknown gunmen on a Friday and his lifeless body was discovered in a bush on Saturday morning. The assembly expressed deep concern over the escalating insecurity in the region, noting that this incident reflects a dangerous trend of targeting traditional leaders and ordinary citizens.

Lawmakers, including Mr. Michael Audu and Mr.

Simon Gabo, called for urgent action from security agencies to enhance operations and establish additional checkpoints to ensure safety. The Speaker, Mr.

Alfr Emberga, directed the House Committee on Security and Chieftaincy Affairs to interface with relevant security agencies and report back by Tuesday, March 17. The assembly emphasized the need for a revival of local vigilance groups to combat crime effectively.
