Gunmen Abduct and Murder Benue Traditional Ruler

On March 6, 2026, traditional ruler Zaki Sugther Agamb was abducted and subsequently murdered by gunmen in Tongov, Katsina-Ala Local Government Area, Benue State. The incident occurred at his home, where armed men took him away in the presence of his family.

His lifeless body was later discovered in a nearby bush, leading to anger and grief among local residents. The Benue State House of Assembly strongly condemned the abduction and murder, describing the incident as barbaric and unacceptable.

The assembly, presided over by Speaker Alfr Emberga, reached a resolution during a plenary session, calling on security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, to intensify efforts to track down those responsible for this crime. The incident has left the community in shock and fear, highlighting the grave threat to traditional institutions and community leadership.
