Benue Assembly Speaker Resigns, Replaced by Suspended Deputy Whip

Benue State House Assembly Speaker, Hon Hyacinth Dajoh, resigned after being suspended by Governor Hyacinth Alia for insubordination. The suspended Deputy Whip, Alfred Emberga, was also replaced.

Dajoh's resignation letter cited good faith and the state's interest. In an emergency meeting, Deputy Speaker Hon Lami Ogenyi presided over the election of Emberga as the new Speaker.

Emberga pledged to fulfill his duties with integrity and respect for diverse opinions. He thanked his predecessor and emphasized the importance of unity and good governance.

Emberga called for collaboration to ensure laws that benefit the people and advance the state's progress. The Assembly aims to maintain its independence and work harmoniously with the executive and judiciary.
