Benue State Launches Training for 300 Security Guards

On Tuesday, Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State launched a training program for 300 personnel of the Benue State Civil Protection Guard (BSCPG) at the Kukah Centre, in collaboration with the state government. This initiative aims to improve the framework and capacity of the state's security outfit.

Governor Alia expressed strong support for the establishment of a state police, stating that the idea is timely and necessary for effective local security management. He highlighted the importance of a legal framework to empower state police, allowing for self-determination in security matters.

The training, which will last six days, is designed to enhance the operational capabilities of the BSCPG, ensuring they understand their mandate within constitutional confines. Deputy Sam Od and Chief Security Officer Joseph Har were also mentioned, with Har noting that 5,000 personnel have already been trained across Nigeria.

The training aims to strengthen the BSCPG's functions and improve community security responses.
