Benue community leaders refute report on cattle rustling

Community leaders in Benue State, including Inspector John Ogeh, Village Head Malam Danlami Danjuma, and others, have refuted a report on cattle rustling in their community. The report, published in the Daily Trust on August 1, 2025, alleged that a criminal group had stolen 73 cows belonging to Sale Abubakar.

In response, the leaders, through their lawyer Onche Esq, stated that the publication was false and defamatory. They clarified that Fulani cattle found in their community were safely kept and later retrieved by their owners.

The leaders emphasized that the allegations made by the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association Nigeria (MACBAN) were baseless and aimed at tarnishing the community's image. They also highlighted that the community had not been involved in any attacks or cattle rustling incidents.
