Benue State Declares One-Week Easter Holiday for Workers

The Benue State Government, under the leadership of Governor Hyacinth Alia, has announced a one-week Easter holiday for public civil servants. This holiday will commence on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, and workers are expected to resume duties on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.

The announcement was made through a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the General Services, Godwin Tyolumun Tighil, on behalf of the Secretary to the State Government, Deborah Aber. The statement noted that the decision was approved by the governor and allows public servants to close work at 1 p.m. on the first day of the holiday.

However, workers engaged in essential services are required to remain on duty to handle urgent matters affecting public welfare. Governor Alia extended Easter greetings to the people of Benue State and urged them to use this period for prayer and peace.

This marks the first time the governor has approved a week-long Easter holiday for state workers, contrasting with the two-week holiday granted during the Christmas period.
