FG Declares April 3 and 6, 2026, Easter Holidays

The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially declared Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as public holidays to celebrate Easter. This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement released on Wednesday.

In his message, Tunji-Ojo congratulated Christians in Nigeria and the diaspora on this joyous occasion. He emphasized the importance of reflecting on the virtues associated with Easter, such as selflessness, forgiveness, and love, which are exemplified in the teachings of Jesus Christ.

The Minister also called for unity among citizens and stressed the significance of peace and coexistence during the Easter period, reminding Nigerians of the value of tolerance and community, which are essential for national cohesion. He reiterated the Federal Government's commitment to policies aimed at national development and economic growth, wishing all Christians a peaceful and joyful Easter celebration.
