Benue State Declares One-Week Easter Holiday for Workers

The Benue State Government, under the leadership of Governor Rev. Fr.

Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has officially declared a one-week Easter holiday for public civil servants.

This announcement was made in a statement issued on Tuesday by Godwin Tighil, the Permanent Secretary of the General Services, on behalf of Deborah Aber, the Secretary to the State Government. The holiday will commence on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, and civil servants are expected to resume their duties on April 8, 2026.

The statement also noted that workers in essential services are to remain on duty to attend to urgent public matters during this period. This marks the first time the governor has declared a one-week Easter holiday for state workers, although he had previously approved holidays for Christmas celebrations.

Governor Alia extended Easter greetings to the people of Benue State and urged residents to pray for peace in the state and across the country.
