Umahi Advocates for Bodo-Bonny Road Project Support

On Friday, David Umahi, the Minister of Works, called for stakeholder support to ensure the completion of the Bodo-Bonny road project, which he described as a landmark achievement that would transform the economic and social outlook of coastal communities. Speaking at a medallion award ceremony organized by the Bodo-Bonny Road Bridge Peace Committee, Umahi emphasized the project's significance in linking coastal communities to the mainland and reducing insecurity in the Niger Delta.

He noted that the second phase of the project has been approved by President Bola Tinubu, who is committed to expanding road infrastructure across Nigeria. Umahi urged the community to rally behind the president to ensure the project's continuation until 2027.

He acknowledged the challenges faced during the project's development, including funding constraints and community disagreements, but praised the collaborative efforts that led to its success. The Bodo-Bonny road is seen as a vital commercial lifeline for the region.
