PDP Denies Akume's Influence on Governorship Ticket

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected reports suggesting that Senator George Akume influenced the selection of Chief Michael Aondoakaa as the party's governorship candidate in Benue State. In a statement issued on Sunday by the Benue PDP State Publicity Secretary, Bright Yima Antyo, the party characterized the publication as false, mischievous, and politically motivated.

Antyo asserted that Aondoakaa emerged strictly through the PDP’s internal democratic processes without any external interference. The PDP emphasized that it is committed to internal democracy and due process, stating that it is misleading to imply Akume's involvement in the candidate selection.

The party also dismissed allegations that Akume and other political figures were supporting PDP candidates for ulterior motives, noting a lack of evidence for such claims. Furthermore, the PDP indicated that these allegations are part of a broader propaganda effort to discredit the party and its candidates, reaffirming its focus on providing credible leadership and addressing developmental challenges in Benue State.
