PDP Defends Aondoakaa Against Disqualification Claims

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Benue State chapter has defended its 2027 governorship candidate, Chief Michael Aondoakaa (SAN), against claims of constitutional disqualification. The party, through its State Publicity Secretary, Bright Yima Antyo, described the allegations as baseless and politically motivated.

The PDP asserted that Aondoakaa is fully qualified under the 1999 Constitution (as amended) to contest for the governorship position. It highlighted that Aondoakaa served as Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice without any criminal conviction or indictment.

Since leaving office in 2010, he has not faced any legal challenges. The PDP recalled Aondoakaa's participation in the party's governorship primary in 2015 and the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary in 2022, noting that he faced no legal challenges regarding his eligibility.

The party emphasized that the constitutional period for filing any pre-election suit against Aondoakaa has expired and urged the public to disregard false narratives aimed at undermining its candidate.
