PDP Candidate Aondoakaa Condemns Attack on Peter Obi

Chief Michael Aondoakaa, SAN, the governorship candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State, along with the Obidient Movement, condemned an attack on Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, during his engagements in Makurdi. Aondoakaa described the incident as a disgraceful assault on democracy and a violation of the constitutional rights of Nigerians, which guarantee freedom of movement and political participation.

He referenced President Bola Tinubu's call for all political leaders to travel freely across the country to engage with citizens ahead of the 2027 general elections. Aondoakaa stated that any attempt to obstruct or intimidate political leaders undermines democratic competition and the spirit of a peaceful political process.

He criticized the portrayal of Benue State due to the actions of a few individuals, asserting that such behavior does not reflect the hospitality and civility of the Benue people. Aondoakaa also lamented the state government's failure to prevent violence against its citizens while targeting political opponents.
