Benue: Police confirm three dead in latest attacks on Yelwata, Udei communities

The Benue State Police confirmed three deaths in recent attacks on the Yelwata and Udei communities by suspected herdsman bandits. The police tactical unit successfully repelled the coordinated attacks, resulting in six casualties in Guma Local Government Area.

The first incident occurred when armed men attempted to invade Udei town, but police operatives engaged them in a gun battle, forcing them to flee to the border forest. Another group of armed men headed towards Yelwata town, but the police tactical team intercepted and repelled the attack.

Three people sustained serious injuries and were taken to the Benue State University Teaching Hospital for treatment, while three others were confirmed dead. The Commissioner of Police, CP Emenari Ifeanyi, expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and reiterated the command's commitment to combating criminality in the state.
