Benue Police Dismantle Arms Factories, Arrest Criminals

The Benue State Police Command reported significant progress in combating crime, announcing the neutralization of two bandits and the recovery of three AK-47 rifles during operations across the state. Commissioner of Police Cletus Nwadiogbu revealed these details during a press briefing on Friday at the Command’s headquarters in Makurdi.

A 20-year-old suspected gunrunner, Joro Jakata, was arrested in Guma local government area with 115 rounds of live 7.62mm AK-47 ammunition. Intelligence-led operations in Kwande resulted in the dismantling of two illegal arms factories, leading to the recovery of two locally fabricated AK-47 rifles, five English pistols, and firearm-making equipment.

Investigations into an attack on Efeyi Ugboju community uncovered that assailants rustled about 20 cattle and killed 13 residents. The police later neutralized two suspects during a gun battle, recovering one AK-47 rifle with 15 rounds of live ammunition.

Additionally, six suspected armed robbers linked to a trader's murder in Buruku were arrested, along with various other suspects involved in crimes across Benue and Kogi states.
