Police Neutralize Bandits, Rescue Kidnap Victims in Benue

On Friday, Benue State Police Command, led by Cletu Nwadiogbu, reported the neutralization of three suspected bandits during a security operation in Ukum LGA. This incident occurred in the past month, with the police also arresting ten suspects connected to human trafficking, armed robbery, rape, gun running, and cultism.

The police rescued eight kidnap victims following a distress call on May 25, where armed men had abducted commuters around Adupi Orokam in Ogbadibo LGA. A tactical police team engaged the kidnappers in a gun duel, forcing them to abandon their captives, who were rescued unharmed without any ransom payment.

Additionally, a 40-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly trafficking two sisters from Ghana under the pretense of providing them with jobs, leading to their escape from sexual abuse. The police also recovered an AK-47 rifle and 21 rounds of live ammunition during the operations.
