Nigeria Announces Full Payment of Academic Allowance

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced the full payment of the Consolidated Academic Tools Allowance (CATA) for the period of January to August 2026, in accordance with the 2025 agreement between the government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). Dr Tunji Alausa, the Minister of Education, confirmed that funds have been released to all federal universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education, instructing institutions to commence payment to academic staff.

This payment is significant as it represents an investment in the productivity of Nigerian scholars, emphasizing the necessity of access to teaching materials, research tools, and other professional resources for effective academic work.
