Deputy Senate Clerk Urges Health Prioritization for Public Servants

Dr. Vivien Njemanz, the Deputy Clerk of the Senate, advised public servants in Nigeria to prioritize their health in light of work pressures.

During an event in Abuja on Friday, she highlighted the need for public officials to pay deliberate attention to their health to prevent adverse effects. Njemanz called for routine medical checks, balanced nutrition, and regular exercise as essential practices for maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

She linked the discussion to the broader debate on genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and their impact on public health, urging lawmakers and civil servants to embrace scientific evaluations and regulatory oversight in biotechnology policies. Njemanz's remarks were made during her investiture as the country director of the Center for African American Research Studies (CAAR), an organization established 16 years ago, which operates in 16 countries and has 279 fellows.

Her appointment marks a significant step in leading CAAR's activities in Nigeria.
