B/Haram founder’s son, 5 other suspected terrorists arrested in Chad

Chadian authorities have arrested the youngest son of the late founder of Boko Haram, alongside five other suspected terrorists in the Lake Chad region. The jihadist cell, believed to be part of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), a splinter group of Boko Haram, was apprehended in N'Djamena.

The arrested individuals, including Yusuf, who is also the younger brother of the current ISWAP leader, were described as a major symbolic victory in the fight against insurgency in the region. Security experts have praised the multinational cooperation between Nigeria and Chad, urging for further investigations into the group's sponsors.

The United States has commended Nigeria for the successful arrest of two wanted Ansaru terrorist leaders, highlighting it as a significant step in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism.
