Romanian Federation Introduces Black Card for Youth Matches

The Romanian Football Federation has implemented a new regulation introducing the black card in youth football to address inappropriate behavior by parents and spectators. Announced on September 11, this initiative aims to protect children aged 7 to 16 from harassment and pressure during matches.

The federation stated that football should remain a source of joy and healthy development for children. The black card signifies the definitive cessation of a match due to improper conduct, with referees empowered to issue it after a series of warnings.

The process begins with an initial warning, followed by a temporary suspension of the match if misconduct persists. If the behavior continues after the match resumes, a black card is issued, permanently halting the match.

The federation emphasized that abusive behavior disrupts the match and negatively impacts children and teams. The black card serves as a clear visual indication of the referee's decision to end the match due to spectator misconduct.
