Blackouts Hit Lagos and Osun Due to Flooding and Failures

Parts of Lagos and Osun states are experiencing blackouts due to transmission failures and flooding. Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) announced that power supply has been reduced following outages on the Oshogbo-Ikeja 330kV and Benin-Egbin 330kV transmission lines.

The company is currently working with the national grid operators to restore normal electricity supply. However, no timeline has been provided for when the transmission lines will be back in service.

The flooding has severely impacted electricity supply in various areas of Lagos, including Lekki, Agbara, and Festac, with residents reporting prolonged outages. Meanwhile, Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has also reported disruptions in Osun state due to heavy windstorms and flooding affecting several communities.

The technical teams from both companies are working to restore power supply as quickly as possible.
