ADC Candidate Dan’iya Calls for Action on Insecurity

Manir Muhammad Dan’iya, the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress in Sokoto State, expressed grave concern over the increasing number of deaths in the state, which he described as a worsening security and humanitarian crisis. He reported that over 100 people may have died in various incidents over the past 10 days, including attacks by bandits in Ungushi, Kebbe Local Government Area, and fatalities in Wurno and Silame local government areas.

Dan’iya specifically referenced the Gorau boat accident in Goronyo Local Government Area, where the death toll reached 53. In a statement signed by his media aide, Aminu Abdullahi, he urged both the Federal and state governments to take urgent action, emphasizing that the protection of lives and property is the government's primary responsibility.

He criticized the authorities for their lack of urgency and warned that ongoing violence could impact participation in the upcoming 2027 elections. Dan’iya called for improved security measures and accountability in government projects.
