Bodo-Bonny Road Completed, Ending Decades of Isolation

The Bodo-Bonny Road, a 37.9-kilometer infrastructure project, has been completed, effectively linking Bonny Island to the Nigerian mainland. This road, developed through a partnership between Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) and the Federal Government of Nigeria, fulfills a nearly 70-year-old aspiration of the Bonny community.

Historically, Bonny Island has been isolated, relying heavily on maritime transport, which posed risks such as piracy and adverse weather conditions. The idea of a road connecting Bonny to the mainland dates back to the early 1950s, during the oil boom when Shell's operations began.

Despite various governmental promises, previous attempts to construct the road faced delays and abandonment. The completion of this road is expected to enhance trade, investment, and the overall livelihood of Bonny residents, who have long endured the challenges of isolation.
