Boko Haram Attacks Chibok Community, Burns Homes and Shops

On April 4, 2026, at approximately 1:30 AM, suspected Boko Haram terrorists attacked the Awapul community in Chibok Local Government Area, Borno State. The attackers, riding motorcycles, caused significant destruction by burning down private homes and small shops.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported, and residents fled to seek safety. ASP Nahum Daso, a spokesperson for the Borno State Police Command, confirmed the incident, emphasizing the critical damage to infrastructure.

This attack occurred less than 24 hours after another Boko Haram assault on an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Damasak, which resulted in the deaths of four police officers and the destruction of property. The residents of Chibok have called for immediate government action to protect their community, expressing that their daily lives are severely impacted by the ongoing violence.
