Boko Haram Attack in Borno: Scores Killed and Abducted

On Wednesday, around 1 AM, Boko Haram terrorists launched a significant attack on a military base in Gwoza, Borno State, resulting in the deaths of nine soldiers and the abduction of an unconfirmed number of civilians, predominantly women. Eyewitness accounts indicated that the insurgents, using motorcycles and gun trucks, overwhelmed the military position, which allowed them to infiltrate the community and abduct residents.

ASP Nahum Daso, a spokesperson, reported that survivors indicated many civilians were taken towards the Mandara Mountain area. The local chief imam noted that investigations are ongoing to ascertain the total number of abducted individuals.

In the aftermath, military forces regained control of the area, but residents fled to Pulka town for safety amid fears of further attacks. The insurgents also set fire to significant parts of the town during their retreat.
