Boko Haram and ISWAP Attack Kautikari Village Again

On Thursday evening, Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists launched an attack on Kautikari village in Borno State, causing significant panic among the local population. The assault reportedly began around 6:50 PM, forcing residents to flee into nearby bushes as insurgents opened fire and set houses ablaze.

The attack has raised fears among the community, which had recently begun to recover from a previous assault on March 30, 2026, where several residents were killed, including a local hunter identified as Mallam Bumto. Another victim, Johanna Peter, was killed just before his wedding scheduled for March 31, 2026.

The recent attack has left many families displaced, with reports indicating that the insurgents looted food and livestock. Security sources in Maiduguri confirmed the distress call but did not provide immediate casualty figures.

The situation remains precarious as residents are uncertain about their safety following these repeated assaults.
