Boko Haram Receives Major Funding from Global Sources

On Wednesday, Maj-Gen Anthony Atolagbe, a retired former Sector Commander of Operation Safe Haven, asserted that Boko Haram is significantly funded by sources both within and outside Nigeria. During an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Prime Time’, Atolagbe highlighted that the communication tools used by bandits, such as Starlink, may not have been obtained in Nigeria, suggesting a broader international network of support.

He stressed that the issue of terrorism and banditry transcends Nigerian borders, indicating a complex web of funding that requires deeper investigation. Atolagbe called for collaborative efforts involving the United Nations (UN), African Union (AU), Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), and other nations affected by terrorism to work together in finding lasting solutions to the crisis.
