Boko Haram Rustles 1,400 Sheep, Kills Herder in Borno

On March 10, 2026, Boko Haram militants attacked Wuturo Village, a nomadic settlement near Konduga Town in Borno State, rustling 1,400 sheep and killing herder Ahmadu Baida, aged 40. The attack occurred late at night when unknown gunmen on five motorcycles invaded the settlement.

Preliminary police investigations revealed that Ahmadu Baida sustained fatal gunshot injuries, while his brother, Mohammadu Baida, aged 30, suffered a gunshot wound to his left leg. Following the incident, a combined team from the police and military, including the Civilian Joint Task Force and local hunters, was swiftly mobilized to the scene.

Ahmadu Baida was confirmed dead upon arrival at the hospital, while Mohammadu Baida is currently receiving treatment. Nazir Abdulmajid, the police spokesperson, condemned the attack and extended condolences to the family of the deceased.

Security operations have commenced to apprehend those responsible and recover the stolen livestock.
