Gunmen Kill Herders in Plateau Community Attack

On Thursday, gunmen ambushed herders in a Plateau community, resulting in the deaths of several individuals. Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo, the state chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), confirmed the incident, which occurred around 7 PM as victims were returning home from a Qur'an Tafsir event.

The attack was described as brutal, with victims shot and one decapitated. Babayo condemned the unprovoked violence, asserting that it targeted members of the Berom community.

He called for justice and urged both state and federal governments to protect the people and their livestock. Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, spokesperson for Operation Enduring Peace, confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation was underway.

Solomon Dalyop, president of the Berom Youth Moulder Association, denied allegations of a killer group within the Berom community and criticized the framing of the violence as ethnic conflict. He called for independent investigations into the attacks.
