Travelers Frustrated by 2km Walk Amid Security Alerts

Following recent bomb blasts in Maiduguri, Borno State, which occurred around 6:30 PM on March 16, resulting in 23 deaths and 108 injuries, travelers lament the new security measures requiring a 2km walk to cross checkpoints into Yobe and Borno states. The Yobe State Police Command issued a security alert ahead of the Sallah festival, emphasizing the need for robust security coverage in public areas.

Dungu Abdulkarim, spokesperson for the command, expressed sympathy for the people of Borno State. Travelers, including Habib Zanna, Aisha Gambo, and Sarah Bwala, voiced their concerns about the health implications of the long trek and the risks posed by potential terrorist attacks during their journey.

The police confirmed ongoing investigations into the bomb blasts and warned residents to remain vigilant against possible suicide bombers. The Nigerian military has intensified surveillance and patrols to prevent further attacks in Maiduguri.
