NAFDAC Confirms BON Bread Safe Amid Viral Controversy

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) declared that BON Bread is safe and free of harmful substances after conducting a scientific investigation. This investigation was initiated due to a viral social media video posted by blogger Love Dooshima on April 13, 2026, which expressed concern over a loaf of bread remaining fresh for nearly two months without going moldy.

Although Dooshima did not mention the brand, the video led to a lawsuit against her by the bread manufacturer for N50 million. She was detained by the Nigeria Police on April 20, 2026, for alleged cyberstalking and mischief but was released later that day following intervention by Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu.

NAFDAC's Director General, Prof. Christianah Adeyey, stated that the agency's investigation, which included sampling and laboratory analysis, found that BON Bread complies with food safety standards and does not contain objectionable substances.

Adeyey urged the public to report concerns directly to NAFDAC rather than on social media.
