Borno Attack Kills Two Soldiers; Zamfara IED Blast Claims Six

On May 7, 2026, two soldiers were killed when ISWAP fighters attacked a military forward operating base in Magumeri, Borno State. The troops managed to repel the assault, inflicting heavy casualties on the attackers.

Sani Uba from the Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai reported that the terrorists attempted to infiltrate the location but faced strong resistance. Despite a minor breach, the troops successfully contained the attack and recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition.

In a separate incident in Zamfara State, an improvised explosive device detonated along the Bagega-Anka road, killing six people and injuring six others. The Zamfara State police confirmed the casualties and dispatched an Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit to the scene.

The ongoing violence has led to heightened military operations in the region, with local communities experiencing increased insecurity and reliance on military escorts for safe travel.
