Borno Commissioner Saina Buba Apologizes for Controversial Remark

Hon. Saina Buba, the Borno State Commissioner for Poverty Alleviation, Youths and Sports, issued an apology for a controversial remark made during an engagement organized by the City Boy Movement in Maiduguri. Initially, Buba stated, “Whoever shows us a finger, we will show him a finger… Whoever dares to show us a finger again, we will break his finger,” which drew significant criticism.

Although he initially claimed the comment was not directed at the opposition and did not warrant an apology, he later retracted his statement during a press interaction on Wednesday. Buba expressed that his comment was never meant to violate the rights of the people and emphasized that it did not reflect the views of the All Progressives Congress (APC) or the administration of Governor Babagana Umara Zulum.

He reiterated the government's commitment to protecting the rights of residents and promoting democratic values.
