Four Police Personnel Killed in Boko Haram Attack

On April 4, 2023, the Borno State Police Command confirmed the killing of four police personnel during an attack by Boko Haram and ISWAP insurgents in Nganzai, Borno State. The attack occurred in the early hours when heavily armed insurgents attempted to overrun the Nganzai Division Police Headquarters.

The police, alongside a crack squad, engaged the insurgents in a fierce gun battle, which reportedly involved the use of sophisticated weapons, including rocket-propelled grenades. Parts of the police station were damaged, and an armored personnel carrier was partially burned.

The incident also affected the Mallam Fatori Internally Displaced Persons camp in Damasak, where a member of the civilian joint task force was killed. In response, CP Naziru Abdulmajid has deployed additional personnel and operational assets to strengthen security in the area and prevent further attacks.

The police command urged residents to remain calm and vigilant while assuring them of ongoing efforts to track down the perpetrators.
