Four Police Officers Killed by Boko Haram Laid to Rest

On April 5, 2026, the Borno State Police Command conducted a burial ceremony for four officers who were killed by Boko Haram during a terrorist attack in Nganzai Local Government Area. The deceased included two inspectors, Samuel Ezekiel and Sanusi Moham, and two constables, Bitru Luka and Shaibu Bukar.

The ceremony took place at the Kawar Maila burial ground in Maiduguri, following religious rites. ASP Nahum Daso, the command's spokesperson, identified the fallen officers and noted the attendance of key police officials, including Commissioner Nazir Abdulmajid and Assistant Commissioner ACP Jawi Moham.

The attack occurred on April 4, 2026, at approximately 1:00 AM, when armed terrorists attempted to overrun the Nganzai division police headquarters, employing sophisticated weaponry such as rocket-propelled grenades. The police successfully repelled the attack, but four personnel lost their lives in the fierce gun battle.

The incident also involved an attack on an internally displaced persons camp in Damasak, resulting in additional casualties.
