Boko Haram Abducts Over 300 Residents in Borno Attack

On March 4, 2023, Boko Haram launched a terror attack in Ngosh, Gwoza Local Government Area, Borno State, abducting approximately 300 residents. The attack was confirmed by ASP Nahum Daso, spokesperson for the Borno State Police Command.

The group released a video acknowledging the abduction and threatening to enslave the victims in the name of Allah. Following the attack, residents fled into the bush for safety, and the state commission for internal security, Usman Tar, reported ongoing efforts to verify the actual number of missing persons.

The Borno State government is providing humanitarian assistance to the victims, including essential household items. Senator Ali Ndume has called on President Bola Tinubu to ensure regular updates on military efforts against insurgency, emphasizing the need for sustained military operations in the region.

Ndume also urged for the establishment of an air component center to enhance aerial operations against insurgents.
