Terror Group Claims Responsibility for Borno Massacre

A terrorist group has claimed responsibility for a brutal attack in Ngosh, Gwoza Local Government Area, Borno State, where they reportedly killed civilians and abducted around 300 residents on Wednesday night. The assailants stormed the community, burning down a military base, homes, and shops, while shooting sporadically.

Eyewitnesses reported that the group, consisting of five men, celebrated their actions in a video, expressing their intent to convert abducted individuals into slaves. The Borno State Police Command, represented by ASP Nahum Daso, confirmed the attack, noting that the exact number of missing civilians is still being verified.

Usman Tar, the state commissioner for information and internal security, stated that efforts are ongoing to ascertain the actual number of victims. The state government is providing support to survivors, including essential household items.

The situation remains critical as residents express concern for the elderly and those left behind.
