BPP Trains 800 Procurement Officers in Rivers State

The Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) concluded a training program for no fewer than 800 procurement officers in Rivers State, part of the 2025-2026 mandatory continuous public procurement capacity development training program (MCPCDTP). The training, held at the PTDF Centre for Skill Development in Port Harcourt, was supervised by Dr.

Adebowale Adedokun, the Director General of BPP. During the closing ceremony for Batch B trainees, Dr.

Adedokun emphasized the program's alignment with the Public Procurement Act of 2007, aiming to ensure transparency, efficiency, and value for money in government procurement. He noted that the training is designed to improve the skills and knowledge of procurement officers, enabling them to handle procurement activities correctly and avoid errors.

The initiative is not intended to combat corruption directly but to prevent it during the procurement process. A total of 1,600 applicants were submitted, with 800 meeting the minimum eligibility criteria for selection.
