BPSR Targets 100% Functional Websites with AI by 2026

The Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR), led by Director-General Dr Dasuki Ibrahim Arabi, announced a target for 100% functional websites among Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) within the next one to two years. This announcement was made during the inauguration of the Inter-Ministerial Technical Team (IMTT) for the 2026 Federal Government Websites Ranking Exercise in Abuja.

The proportion of MDAs with functional websites has increased from less than 30% since the ranking began. Arabi emphasized the importance of adopting AI in public service delivery, aiming to enhance citizen engagement through accessible government information and services.

The ranking exercise will employ automated technology for continuous assessment of MDA websites, involving private-sector participation. Mr Fortune Toma, Director of GovTech Africa, highlighted the need for stronger cybersecurity measures alongside increased digitization, as the shift to online services may lead to more cyber threats.
