ADC Candidates Pledge 70% Minimum Wage Increase in 2027

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidates from Nigeria's seven Northwest states have pledged to raise the minimum wage to N110,000, representing a 70% increase from the current N70,000, if they win the 2027 elections. This commitment was formalized on Wednesday at the Yar'adua Centre in Abuja through the Northwest ADC Governorship Candidates' Compact 2027–2031.

The compact outlines a regional agenda focused on security, development, and shared prosperity, including plans to build 21 specialist hospitals. The candidates also promised to address insecurity and education emergencies, enhance food security through agricultural initiatives, and establish a Northwest Regional Security Coordination Centre.

Abubakar Malami, the former Attorney General of the Federation and ADC candidate, read the communiqué. The candidates criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress for alleged corruption and poor governance, vowing to govern differently.

Attendees included Manir Mohammad Dan'iya, Sabo Mohammed Nakudu, and Bilyaminu Yusuf Shinkafi, with some candidates represented by their deputies.
