ADC Expels Nafiu Bala Gombe and Leke Abejide Amid Crisis

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expelled Nafiu Bala Gombe, the former Deputy National Chairman, and House of Representatives member Leke Abejide, amid escalating internal crises. This decision was disclosed during the party's national congress held in Abuja on Tuesday.

The expulsions also affected other members, including Kenneth Ehiat, Stella Chukwu, and Elia Adiukwu, as the faction led by David Mark seeks to consolidate control amid ongoing disputes. Gombe continues to challenge the party's leadership structure, insisting he remains the authentic National Chairman of the ADC despite earlier reports of his resignation.

He, along with Abejide, led a protest at the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), calling on prominent political figures, including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, to steer clear of the party's affairs. Gombe has accused politicians of attempting to hijack the ADC, further intensifying the leadership tussle, which has taken a legal dimension with a suit filed that reportedly influenced INEC's decision to withdraw recognition of the David Mark-led leadership.
