APC Dismisses Opposition Summit Ahead of 2027 Elections

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reacted to a recent opposition summit, labeling it a sign of panic rather than political strength. APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, through his Special Adviser on Media and Strategic Communications, Abimbola Tooki, stated that the gathering confirmed the party's belief that the opposition is facing a crushing defeat in the upcoming 2027 general election.

Yilwatda described the summit as "dead on arrival," questioning the sudden unity of parties that had not collaborated in four years. The summit took place on August 31 in Abuja, involving six opposition parties: the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), and the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

Notably absent were ADC's Peter Obi, NDC's Peter Obi, and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde. G100 convener Mallam Salihu Lukman advocated for a government of National Competence and an enforceable transition charter during the summit.
