ASUU Suspends 2-Week Strike, Cites Senate Intervention

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has announced the suspension of its nationwide strike after a 2-week warning strike due to the Senate's intervention. ASUU President, Chris Piwuna, revealed the decision at a press conference in Abuja.

The union's National Executive Council has given the government a one-month window to address contentious issues, including the 2009 agreement and outstanding salary payments. ASUU warned of a possible resumption of the strike if the government fails to meet its demands within the stipulated timeframe.

The union had initiated the strike over the government's silence on critical issues.
