Otukpo Monarch Orders Herders to Leave for Security

Chief John Eimony, the traditional ruler of Otukpo in Benue State, has issued an order for all herders to vacate the Otukpo kingdom immediately. This directive follows a deadly attack on Nobi Village in the Otukpo district, which resulted in multiple fatalities and left residents in shock and fear.

The Otukpo District Traditional Council, represented by Chief Udeh Adol, supported this decision, emphasizing the need to address growing security challenges in the kingdom. Chief Eimony stated that the safety of the people is a top priority and that the action is not aimed at any ethnic group but is a necessary security measure to preserve lives and maintain peace.

He expressed sadness over the recurring attacks that have caused suffering among families and instilled a constant fear of further assaults. The monarch urged security agencies to intensify operations in vulnerable communities and called on federal and state governments to take decisive action to end the cycle of violence and restore confidence among residents.
