Court Judgment Deregisters Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC)

The Federal High Court in Lokoja, presided over by Hon. Justice Isa H.

Dashen, delivered a judgment that deregistered the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). This ruling set aside a previous judgment from December 10, 2025, which had compelled the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register the party.

The court's decision affects the legal rights of the Peace Movement Party, which claims ownership of the NDC's logo. INEC is anticipated to remove the NDC from its roster of recognized political parties in Nigeria.

INEC Chairman, Haruna, informed the voter education committee that the commission is awaiting official paperwork to finalize the response to the court's ruling. The NDC has faced challenges, including denial of access to the INEC portal necessary for uploading candidate lists for the 2027 general elections, which poses a significant threat to its political ambitions.

The party's director confirmed efforts to secure access credentials from INEC have been unsuccessful.
