Dangote Refinery Reinstates Engineers Amid Misconduct Warning

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced the recall of engineers who were previously sacked following operational disruptions. This decision was communicated in an internal memo by Group Vice President of Oil and Gas, Devakumar Edwin, on Thursday.

The memo indicated a shift in the company’s approach, balancing disciplinary actions with the need for operational continuity at Africa's largest single-train refinery, which is set to commence operations in October 2025. The memo did not specify the number of engineers being recalled but highlighted that the decision followed an extensive internal review and appeals from stakeholders.

While the company is offering these engineers a chance to return, it stressed that any further misconduct would attract immediate sanctions, reiterating its zero-tolerance stance on such issues. The refinery aims to consolidate technical expertise and reinforce discipline to enhance operational efficiency and meet local petroleum demands.
