Defence Minister Summons Service Chiefs Over Insecurity

Defence Minister Christopher Musa held a high-level security meeting with service chiefs at the Ministry of Defence headquarters in Abuja amid increasing concerns over rising insecurity in Nigeria. The meeting focused on assessing a recent wave of attacks on military bases, particularly in the northeast region of Nigeria, where there have been several reported attacks by terrorists.

This escalation of violence has heightened fears regarding the deteriorating security situation in the country, especially following the killing of three Nigerian Army officers, who held the rank of lieutenant colonel, during separate terrorist attacks in Borno State. Attending the meeting were key military leaders, including Chief of Defence Staff Olufemi Oluyede, Chief of Army Staff Waidi Shaibu, Chief of Air Staff Sundai Anek, and Chief of Naval Staff Idi Abass, along with representatives from security agencies, including the National Intelligence Agency.

While the details of the deliberations remain undisclosed, the meeting is expected to review ongoing military operations and develop new strategies to address the escalating security threats in Nigeria.
